With a panoramic view of the Hong Kong coastline, this 80-square-meter space is home to an imported glass partition company. The design was inspired by the Japanese garden corridor, and features a sunken multifunctional reception area, making business communication feel more like a friendly chat. The striking slogans on the products are strategically placed to leave a lasting impression on customers.
The unique properties of this design lie in its ability to showcase a multitude of products without making the space feel cluttered. The focus is on the product, with a combination of light boxes, guidance systems, and glass partitions. The mirror's space extension effect further highlights the products, while the sunken multifunctional reception area serves multiple purposes, from receiving guests to launching new products, and even as a free workspace for employees.
The project, which was completed in November 2019, uses a variety of materials including wooden floors, Mongolian black, ultra-white glass partitions, and lacquered boards. The design team, consisting of Kay, Don, Jef, and Ling, faced the challenge of allocating the functional division ratio between the exhibition hall and the office in a small project space. They overcame this by focusing on the company's sales purpose and leaving the best scale and landscape for the reception area and conference room.
As a testament to its innovative design, "Interesting White" was awarded Silver in the A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill. The project is a perfect example of how a designer can turn a product into a living exhibit, stimulating people to think of more possibilities of using the product, thus achieving the purpose of sales.
With its unique blend of office and showroom, "Interesting White" is a testament to Kay Deng's innovative approach to design. It serves as a shining example of how multifunctional spaces can be designed with creativity and functionality in mind, while still maintaining a high degree of aesthetic appeal.
